Description

The most convenient, comfortable, healthy way to cool your home using your existing swamp cooler.

Continuous Comfort™ lets you set the exact temperature you want your swamp cooler to blow. Instead of just turning on and off, the Roadrunner Comfort uses a remote sensor to monitor and adjust the water flow to the pads, ensuring the air is cooled to your chosen temperature. This means everyone in your home enjoys Continuous Comfort™, no matter how close or far they are from the vent.

The Controller is slim and fits in with any decor.

Wire nuts for connection to your cooler’s wiring are included, as is a pry tool for removing your controller from the wall plate.

The remote temperature sensor clips to your cooler’s air vent. If your home has ductwork and multiple vents, it can be clipped to any vent within about 30 feet of the controller. The sensor is powered by a battery whose lifetime exceeds five years, so replacing the battery will be an infrequent need. The spring-loaded clip and sensor electronics are designed to last a lifetime, like the controller itself.

The Roadrunner Comfort RC4 comes with either a single or double-wide wall plate, making it compatible with virtually all existing swamp cooler controller installations.

We also include this handy little “Dismount Tool” that makes it easy to remove the snap-fit controller from the wall mount.

IMPORTANT: Some newer coolers use a low-voltage controller and put more electronics in the cooler itself; these systems use low-voltage wiring to the thermostat which may not be immediately compatible with the Roadrunner Comfort. If you have one of these systems, you probably need the help of an electrician for installation.

Features

The Roadrunner Comfort uses a sensor clipped to your air vent to measure the incoming air temperature. It uses that measurement to vary the pump operation and control the wetness of the cooling pads. By doing this it can achieve a near-constant temperature on the incoming air, mostly within +/- 1 degree Fahrenheit. The Roadrunner Comfort is the ONLY evaporative cooler control with Continuus Comfort™.

More about Continuous Comfort™

The color touchscreen works like the one on your phone, making operating your cooler familiar and easy to use. Screens are sorted by function, and colors used to help guide quicker recognition of control functions and differentiate screens.

Depiction of Set Turn On Time screen displayIt’s easy to set times for your cooler to automatically turn ON and OFF. Just tap the blue Option ‘button’ and then select ON or OFF time. You’ll come to a screen with swipe up/down rollers to set hours, minutes, and AM/PM. To disable the ON or OFF time, just tap Clear and you’ll be returned to the Options screen with the selected time (ON or OFF) disabled.

Pause turns off the fan and pump right away, and sets a countdown timer for when it will return to automatic operation (“Auto”). It defaults to 10 minutes, but you can add 10 minutes at a time with each touch of the “+10 min” button. Cancel returns you to automatic operation (“Auto” screen).

Touch control of fan on/off, fan hi/lo, and pump on/off.

Thoughtful use of color and simple controls makes using the Roadrunner Comfort a no-brainer. The main operating screen has big buttons for WARMER and COOLER, and an easy-to-read display of the current temperature setting. The ON- and OFF- TIME setting screens have big, easy to use rollers for changing hours, minutes, and AM/PM. The SET CLOCK screen, which you will need to visit if you have no Wifi, uses the same design, but with inertia on the minutes roller so you can give it a swipe and watch it spin on its own.

Once you’ve connected it to your home Wifi network, the Roadrunner Comfort controller will check every morning between 1 & 5 AM to see if there is an updated version of its software. This means that it will always stay up to date with the latest features and the best possible performance and security.

The Setup screen includes a control for switching between horizontal and vertical display orientation. This makes it compatible with virtually every swamp cooler control installation.

Sensor battery life expectancy is 5+ years.

An early low battery warning gives you plenty of time to acquire a replacement so you can enjoy uninterrupted cooling.

General Questions

Active Temperature Control maintains the temperature of the air coming out of your cooler by controlling the wetness of the cooling pads. To do this, it samples the temperature of the incoming air, then compares the temperature to your set temperature. It also determines whether the temperature is rising or falling. Based on this information, it may choose to not run the pump at all, or to run it for 1-55 seconds before fetching the next sample 60 seconds later.

When set to Auto, it reads the temperature once a minute.

When the Set Temperature is changed, it will recheck the temperature within about 5 seconds.

While reading the temperature, it displays the message “Scanning” in small text in the upper left of the screen.

The sensor battery should last at least 5 years.

The controller will display a flashing alert when the battery gets low, and an audible beep once a minute when it is about to die.

The Roadrunner Comfort is warranted to be free from defects for two full years. For any failure not due to external electrical disturbance, invasion by fluid, temperature extremes, or other external cause, Nangeroni Design will repair or provide a replacement at our discretion. Nangeroni Design is not responsible for any damages beyond the unit itself due to any cause, including incorrect installation, improper usage, or defects with the evaporative cooler being controlled.

Returns for full refund will be accepted within 60 days of purchase date for all units purchased from the Roadrunner Comfort website.

Absolutely. The actual circuitry and display are made in China; there is no reasonably affordable domestic alternative, and their quality is unsurpassed. Requirements

The Roadrunner Comfort works with any swamp cooler that uses 120VAC switching for the pump, low & high fan speeds. Some people refer to this as a "high voltage" controller. Only the newer low voltage controls, which replace the high voltage wiring with low voltage wiring, are not drop-in compatible. However, you can usually have an electrician restore the high voltage wiring if you wish to enjoy the Roadrunner Comfort's exclusive Active Temperature Control (TM).
